A Night in Manhattan

Times Square never ceases to amaze me! This is my third time to see it, and it truly is a sensory overload. Hearing diverse languages, seeing bright displays of caption and color, mouthwatering aromas wafting out of cafes and reastaurants. I love NYC!

Day One - New York City

Hey everyone! Thanks for tuning into the blog; we'll keep it updated as time and internet access alow...

Day one is drawing to a close, and we've arrived in New York City.
We left Dallas around 11:30 this morning and flew into JFK International Airport...
Our flight was very smooth...
It was 60 degrees and sunny when we left Dallas, and 34 degrees and snow covered when we landed in NYC! (Picture above is the view out our window)

After settling into the hotel, we spent the evening in Manhattan around times square...
It's a dizzying scene... lights, people, noise, taxi cabs, sky scrappers, subways, limosuines...

Downtown New York City late at night can be a scary place, so it's a good idea to keep a couple of body-guards with you at all times... (Actually, these were a couple of New York City cops who wanted their picture with me... ha ha)

Well, we started in Mt. Vernon 18 hours and 1500 miles ago... so I think it's time for some sleep!
Love and miss you all! Keep us in your prayers.

- Josh

Leaving Big D for the Big Apple

Here we are getting our baggage checked in at DFW. Praise God our plane is still scheduled to leave on time! Hundreds of flights were canceled yesterday due to snowy weather conditions in New York!

The Trip of a Lifetime

This will be the trip of a lifetime on many levels. It will be the first time Josh and I have been on another continent, the first time we have been to the "Holy Land" and the first time we have taken a trip of this distance just the two of us. We are very excited and full of aniticipation! Our thanks to two wonderful individuals, Amy and Johnnie (our bosses) for giving us the opportunity to take this trip, especially during a very busy time at work! Our thanks also, to our dear friends, the Sheridan's, who extended the invitation for us to make this trip with them. What we know about Jesus comes from the Holy Scriptures, but in making this journey we will be able to blend the biblical and historical accounts of New Testament times and see the world that Jesus knew. We will gain new insights into the Bible and have an enriched understanding and appreciation of what the Bible tells us. It is my hope that we can give you a little taste of our experiences through this blog. Join us as we cross the Sea of Galilee, stand on the Mount of Beatitiudes, ascend Masada's lofty perch, pass through Jericho and walk the ancient streets of the Old City of Jerusalem!
